St Thomas’s aims to be flexible regarding each child’s individual learning needs, involving parents closely with their child’s developmental progress. In line with the principles of the Early Years Foundation Stage (2008, DfES) staff are responsive, spontaneous, inventive and resourceful. By reflecting on practice through daily post-playgroup meetings, staff continually improve on provision and encompass the holistic developmental needs of St Thomas’s children.
At St Thomas’s, the statutory framework of the EYFS (2008) is incorporated into the everyday running of playgroup. We believe that children can be taught most things, provided it is presented in a way that is accessible to them. Careful planning of a rich and varied environment for the children to play and learn within ensures that all children reach their full potential.
ICT
St Thomas’s was awarded an IBM work station by Islington Council, following submission of our ICT policy, which the Council asked to use to help inspire their own ICT policy.
